Meadowbrook Farms Dairy issued a recall for its pasteurized chocolate milk due to the milk being improperly pasteurized, according to the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.

State inspectors discovered the error during a routine inspection at the company's Allegany County facility in Clarksville.

The recalled milk was sold across the Capital Region and was packaged in half gallon, glass containers that were processed on Wednesday, April 24. The affected lot has a black dot on the cap signifying the lot code.

When done correctly, pasteurization heats milk to effectively eliminate all pathogenic bacteria like listeria and salmonella.

No illnesses had been reported in connection with the recall as of Thursday, May 9.

Customers with questions are asked to contact Meadowbrook Farms Dairy owner Charles Van Wie at 518-768-2451.
